How-to: Social Distancing

How to: Social Distancing

It's not you, it's me...

One of the best ways of keeping you and your team safe in the office is through strict social distancing. Depending on the country you reside in, this could mean trying to stay 6 feet or 1.5 metres apart and in some cases even further.

In order to help meet this standard, OfficeMaps have introduced a feature that allows an administrator to quickly and easily block desks on a floor by floor basis.

This blocking provides a visual representation of which desks are available and which are not. Additionally, blocked desks are unable to be picked up from the temporary allocation pool (hot desking) and stops an administrator from permanently allocating the desk to a user.

Blocking and unblocking desks‍

  • Click on the pencil (edit) icon in the map toolbox at the top right of the screen
  • Click on the padlock icon next to the desk that you wish to block or unblock. Clicking the icon toggles between the 2 states.
  • A red icon indicates that the desk is blocked. A black icon indicates that the desk is available for pick up.
  • To finish, click on the pencil icon to exit edit mode and then refresh the screen (F5)

Users will be unable to select a blocked desk for check in

Administrators will receive an error message if they attempt to permanently allocate a user to a blocked desk.
