Viewing and Editing Assets in the Desk Panel

Viewing and Editing Assets in the Desk Panel

Data Panels provide information about people and objects in OfficeMaps and can be invoked by clicking on the corresponding Data Panel label under the name of the level when using the Location Tree or by selecting an object that appears on a map. There are two Data Panels: the People Panel and the Desk Panel.

The Desk Panel label can only be viewed when using the Location Tree. Clicking on it will display in the Desk Panel all of the assets that belong to this location, as well as every level map under this selected node.

If the Desk Panel label has been clicked, a filter will appear above the Location Tree. Users will be able to filter the list of assets by their Availability status. To remove this filter, choose the option Show All.

If you click on an asset or pin's name on a map or in the Desk Panel, information about that asset or pin will appear in the Desk Panel. If this object has been assigned to a level map, the view will change to the map that the object is on and the map will pan to it.

In this panel users are able to view information about the asset, most notably the person assigned to it. Administrators will be able to edit information about each asset, including additional fields that have been defined by Administrators.

To edit an asset or pin, click on the pencil icon and edit the values of the fields you would like to change. The pencil icon will change to a square icon. The most significant field to edit for an asset will be Allocations: this field allows you to assign a person to one or more assets. When you have finished, click on the square icon to exit editing mode.

When finished, close the Desk Panel by clicking on the close icon for the asset or pin you are editing. The Desk Panel will be hidden and the view will revert to the map of the currently selected node.

Some of the fields that can be edited are related to Calendar functionality which allows users to determine when an asset like a meeting room has been booked. These can be seen at the bottom of the list of fields when editing the asset.

Calendar View: This setting controls information provided by this view of the asset's calendar.  Irrespective of these settings, if a calendar appointment is set to private then no details will be visible.

No calendar: Calendars will not be visible for this asset.
Free/busy only view: The time and subject of any appointments in the asset's calendar will be visible, but no other details.
Detailed view: All details of any appointment in the asset's calendar will be visible, including attendees.

Calendar Email/UPN: For an asset to be successfully connected to a calendar, an email address or User Principal Name (UPN) must be provided in this field.

Do Not Use Default Calendar Provider: If this option is left blank, the integration provider that is marked as the default provider will be used to reference the Calendar Email/UPN in order to determine the availability of the asset. Check this box and select an integration provider in the field Calendar to choose a different provider for this asset.

Calendar: This field lists the integration provider that is used in lieu of the default if that option is selected.
