Step 5: Configuring Assets and Pins
There are two types of objects that can be placed on to a map in OfficeMaps. Assets are objects like desks and meeting rooms to which people can be assigned. A Pin is an object that is static and which is not connected to people, like a printer or a fire extinguisher. Assets must be added to OfficeMaps through the menu option Preferences -> Assets before they can be used on a map. Pins are added through Preferences -> Pins.
As an example, one asset could be created to represent an "Office" asset and another as a "Workstation". When you place these assets on the map it can aid in reporting and hot-desking functions. Assets and pins can have an icon assigned which will be used to represent the object on the map in the colour you specify.
As well as the default fields available, assets and pins can both also have additional custom fields as with people. For more information about assets, see the article Adding a New Asset Type
